In this article from CNN.com, the author brought us to Cario, Egypt. Archaeologists found the tomb-coffins of many royal servants, these tombs were close to the famous Step Pyramid of King Djoser, a king in Ancient Egypt.
These tombs included a royal butler, a scribe, and two wooden coffins. The Scribe's mud brick tomb contained wooden statues that and the Butler's limestone tomb held well preserved murals. The murals showed possibly what was an Ancient Egyptian festival including a well carved picture of monkeys eating fruit. Scientists are convinced that these tombs are over 3,000 years old! In December, archaeologists also found the mummifed grave of a 4,500 year old doctor!
What seems to amaze everyone, except for the fact of finding all these treasures that will help us learn about the ancient Egyptian culture, is that scientists believe that only about one third of Saqqara still has many undiscovered artifacts! Saqqara contains the land Memphis, the capital of the Old Kingdom. Archaeologists have been exploring the land for over 150 years!
What is disappointing though, is that the number of illegal tomb raids have been increasing. Though tomb raids can lead Archaeologists to undiscovered tombs, the raids have been taking away from the full amount of wonder these tombs have to offer!
